School Field Trips for Grades 5-12 The Farm-Based Education program at Carnation Farms aims to increase youth access, especially those at-risk, to outdoor spaces by developing engaging outdoor programming. Our programs at the Farm Cultivate a connection with the food system and environment leading to healthy choices Foster youth development by building multiple skills for leading healthier lives Hands-on experiences on farms and gardens have tremendous influence on youth and have shown measurable impact in areas including positive social and interpersonal skills, healthy eating and nutrition, science achievement and attitudes towards learning, design skills and environmental stewardship. Our programs feature hands-on learning opportunities that allow students to explore, discover and harvest in a farm setting. The field trips take place in the five-acre certified organic garden at Carnation Farms where flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, herbs and berries grow and students can observe vegetable and layer hen egg production in our garden plots.   Field Trips are designed for students in grades 5-12. We can schedule up to 65 students or two classes, on each tour date. Cost and Financial Assistance: We aim to make the beneficial experiences at our farm accessible and equitable to all members of our community. Our financial assistance is determined based on the percentage of students who are eligible for free/reduced school lunches. No charge for adults or chaperones.
