Field Trips for Grades 5-12
The Farm-Based Education program at Carnation Farms aims to increase youth access, especially those at-risk, to outdoor spaces by developing engaging outdoor programming. Our programs at the Farm
- Cultivate a connection with the food system and environment leading to healthy choices
- Foster youth development by building multiple skills for leading healthier lives
Hands-on experiences on farms and gardens have tremendous influence on youth and have shown measurable impact in areas including positive social and interpersonal skills, healthy eating and nutrition, science achievement and attitudes towards learning, design skills and environmental stewardship. The field trips take place in the five-acre certified organic garden at Carnation Farms where flowers, vegetables, fruit trees, herbs and berries grow and students can observe vegetable and layer hen egg production in our garden plots.
We can schedule up to 65 students or two classes, at $9 per child.
